Name of the Post - Deputy Director of Insurance, General State Service ,Group-A in
the Finance Department
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :-

(1) Administration of General Insurance business of the Directiorate.
(2) supervision of Underwriting Sections such as Fire, warine Miscellaneous, Accounts,
Internal Audit, Statistics and Administration.
(3) Handling of Re-Insurance/Co-Insurance matters in respect of the business of the
Government Insurance Fund.
(4) He will be responsible for issue of policy documents and settlement of Insurance
Claims as per powers delegated to him.
(5) He will have to scrutinise and put up underwirting and claim cases to the higher
Officers where such cases are not within the powers delegated to him.
(6) He will be responsible for reconciliation of accounts for the sections under his control.
(7) He will have to provide necessary guidance to Staff, working under him.
(8) To supervise proper recovery of premium and other amounts due to the fund.
(9) To advise the Government as to properties and risks which need to be insured and
on the premium rates that should be charged for them
(10) To formulate proceedures, rules and regulations for the Inernal Audit of the accounts
of the Government Insurance Fund and Life Insurance Fund and to organise the
internal audits periodically through the Inernal Audit Section. To supervise in general
the Internal Audit Section.
(11) To supervise the work of accounts and the budget of the Directorats of Insurance and
preparation of proforma Accounts. He will also have to attend to the work of
clearance of audit objections and objections raised by the Public Accounts Committe.
(12) To help the Director of Insurance and Director of Insurance in day to day
administration of the Directorate.
(13) To Carry-out Inspections regarding proper maintenance of records such as premium
Registers, claim Registrers etc. Administration of the Life Insurance Fund.
(14) Administration of the Life Insurance Policies issued by the ex-Hyderabad State in
respect of ex-Hyderabad Government servants allocated to the state of Maharashtra.
(15) Sanctioning of loans, Death Claims, surrender claims, maturity claims lodged in
respect of the above referred Life Insurance Policies, within the powers delegated to
him and submission of such cases to higher authorities wherever such cases are
beyond his powers.
(16) To supervise and guide the working of accounts of the LifeInsurance Secion and to
prepare the proforma Accounts of the Life Insurance Fund.
(17) To carry out such part of the work pertainting to the periodical actuarial valuation of
Life Insurance Policy liabilities as may be decided by Government from time to time.
(18) To carry out such other duties as may be assigned to him by the Director of Insurance
or Joint Director of Insurance from time to time.
